Spring 49: Spring Shock

Bussey Brook Meadows and balcony, Jamaica Plain, MA

I've been gone from Boston so long that Spring took over completely and transformed the city in my absence.

It's a different city. I don't recognize it - all luxuriant and leafy, green and blossoming. Warm.

On Saturday morning I wandered through Bussey Brook Meadows in a state of confusion. Secretive thickets and leafy boughs hid the porous and bony landscape I had gotten so familiar with.

The racket of birds is much more dynamic and seemingly more complex than before. Birds are everywhere flitting about with bits of nest-building material in their beaks.

A new bird called out to me (I think!):

Sunday morning is a bit dreary, and I snatch an early morning bird, also new, from my balcony:
