Spring 56: Vocal Greens
10:00am-10:20am, Bussey Hill, Arnold Arboretum
cold, windy, misty
Birds like bushes.
All the lush foliage along the path seems to be teeming with invisible but vocal birdlife.
My favorite, the catbird, calls out enticingly, but I am on the hunt for someone new.
Pretty soon, I hear him (and even spot him briefly amidst the greenery):
He's tiny, greyish, with a distinctive orange-y patch on his yellow throat. Anybody know who it is?
*UPDATE 5/20: He's a Northern Parula, thanks to Jim McCoy for the ID!*
