Sightings!

Here are directions to the Screech Owl in the Arnold Arboretum, JP, thanks to Marc D and a chain of generous birders!

Walk up Bussey Hill Road to the extra long bench on the right, approximately where the woodlands begin. Behind the bench there is a small wooden fence marking the start of a path. Walk to (not past) this fence, then turn left and walk about 15 paces along the rim of the slope. Turn right to face the woods and look for the largest trunk you can find (should be directly ahead, about 50 yards out.) The tree is in the shape of a “Y” Follow the RIGHT fork of the Y up to the next “elbow”. To the left of the elbow is a broken off bough that has been the daytime haunt of a gray Eastern Screech-owl for at least the last 4 weeks.
